Support W.A.T.E.R. (We Advocate Thorough Environmental Review) in their demand for an Environmental Impact Report EIR on the Crystal Geyser Water Company project in the Mt. Shasta sphere of influence in Siskiyou County, just 1/4 mile above the Headwaters of the Sacramento River. Support Attorney Marsha Burch who represents W.A.T.E.R., Gateway Neighborhood Association and the Winnemem Wintu Tribe in the Appeal filed in protest of the Siskiyou County Planning Commission approval of the final and very flawed EIR. Attend the continued hearing of the Board of Supervisors on December 12, 2017 in Yreka at Miner's Inn at 1:30 pm.
Support Water for Citizens of Weed as they organize surrounding their water rights vs Roseburg Forest Products and Crystal Geyser Roxanne. Publicize and support GoFundMe site set up for fundraising effective 8/4/16. Intention is to seek individual donors, no grant applications anticipated. Funds will be used to pay for attorneys' time, expert witnesses, pre-litigation research and information gathering activities, establishing administrative record for legal complaint. The group is exploring legal approaches to acquire and affirm their water rights.
Support above group with a ballot measure/ Initiative for 2018 for value added wholesale water tax on bulk or bottled or packaged water.
Support W.A.W.A. (Weed Area Water Alliance) in their lawsuit vs RFP and the City of Weed filed 6.22.16. CEQA is required and no Notice of Exemption is acceptable for a Superfund Site like RFP. It is a violation of the Clean Water Act.
Attend and report on City Council meetings in Mt. Shasta and Weed and Siskiyou County Board of Supervisor meetings.
Support our attorneys to representing the Weed community, the citizens and the City of Weed to challenge RFP and the Shasta & Scott Rivers Water Board on water rights issues. This may also include support for the City of Weed in a future Eminent Domain proceeding and/ or a separate legal challenge asserting the citizens' water rights in Siskiyou County Superior Court.
Generally our purpose is to fund legal challenges as necessary and to provide the necessary technical support as we move forward.
